A Miracle!

Imagine, if one fine morning you suddenly start feeling rejuvenated, focused and healthier. How would you react, won’t you call it a miracle?

I experienced this miracle very recently and hence thought to share that miracle with you all. I_Only_Ask_For_A_Miracle_by_shining_mindAnd what did I do to experience this Miracle? I just joined one more club.  I know what most of you are thinking, you must be like “this guy must be the most idle guy on this earth, otherwise we are already racing against time for preparing for TM club, and you managed to join one more club” But the fact is that I didn’t even had to shell out a second to join this club. The miracle yielding club is named as 5 am club.  The 5am club is just a concept introduced by MANY successful leaders like Robin Sharma, Tim Armstrong (AOL), and others, who talk about the importance of time and focus. Waking up at 5am in the morning and spending an hour thinking about my day, my goals, yoga, exercise and whatever else matters brought more focus to my everyday life and increased the sense of achievement.

I experienced that 5 AM is a block of time each morning when life is calm, serene, and peaceful. In the early morning hours there are few distractions, the birds are just beginning to sing, and life moves at a slower pace. 5 AM became a symbol for taking full control of my life. Getting up early to do my inner work, to sculpt my character, to sharpen my life’s philosophy or to review my goals. That Holy Hour infused every remaining minute of my day with a perspective that elevated each area of my life. It transformed me. Made me a better leader, better parent, better human being. Probably, that is why people call 5am block of time as 5am miracle.

Are morning people born or made? In my case it was definitely made. Till around 6 months back, I rarely went to bed before midnight, and I’d almost always sleep in late. I usually didn’t start hitting my stride each day until late morning. But after a while I couldn’t ignore the high correlation between success and rising early, even in my own life. On those rare occasions where I did get up early, I noticed that my productivity was almost always higher, not just in the morning but all throughout the day. And I also noticed a significant feeling of well-being. So, I tried out hard to become a habitual early riser. I used to promptly set my alarm clock for 5AM. And next day I used to woke up at 8 AM. Finally, I joined a good Gym and paid a hefty fees to them. That kept me going to wake up early and now I experience 5 am miracle daily.

Gradually I started noticing that  most of the successful men, are early risers. They uses each morning to write, read, ponder, and plan for their day.

  • Apple CEO Tim Cook
  • Disney CEO – Robert Iger
  • Unilever CEO, Paul Polman
  • Cisco CTO – Padamasree Warrior
  • Starbucks CEO – Howard schultz
  • Benjamin Franklin, founding father of America. Franklin is credited with the saying that perhaps started this whole trend in the first place: “Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.”

After being a part of 5 am club for some days, gradually I started realizing one of the most important manifestation of this miracle that I became 100% responsible for my entire life. Everything that happens in me, around me, and to me is because of me. Realizing my life is in my hands is incredibly empowering. Isn’t this 5 AM miracle worth the try even for you. 🙂

Thank you!

P.S. – Delivered this speech as my P5 (CC5) project at Toastmasters.
